Pretty good episode; they actually do the slice-of-life stuff very well. Witnessing the character dynamics blend was quite fun, although the characters' responses felt a bit unnatural and forced. Inui is obviously the best character

Best episode so far. It’s still slow but the character interactions were engaging enough that I didn't mind the pacing. The girls clashing over Shiki is weirdly entertaining.

Episode Context

Arriving at episode 7 of 12, 'Blue Ruins' follows the confrontation-heavy 'White Dream' and positions itself as a deliberate exhale before the series tightens its grip again heading into 'Caged Hair.' With the season's midpoint passed, this episode uses the calm to consolidate the relationships between Shiki and the key women around him, ground that will matter considerably when the supernatural stakes escalate in the back half.
