Love Selection The Animation

A high school guy named Daiki has a crush on his classmate Ami — pretty standard setup. What's less standard is what happens when one of Ami's friends decides she wants to experience intimacy before graduation and, rather than keeping that to herself, pitches the idea to the entire class and pulls Ami and their friend Yui into it. From there, the story follows where that proposal leads among the classmates involved. This is a 2-episode OVA from 2008, based on a manga, and it leans into a lighthearted tone rather than anything dark or coercive. The emphasis is on consensual encounters and character dynamics between people who actually know and care about each other — which puts it in different territory than a lot of entries in the genre. The animation holds up reasonably well for its era, and the character interactions have enough personality to give the story some texture beyond the obvious. If you enjoyed the romantic tension in something like A Condition Called Love or the playful relationship dynamics in Love Tyrant, this scratches a similar itch but in a more adult direction. It's not trying to be anything complicated — it's a short, uncomplicated watch with a clear focus. Go in with the right expectations and it delivers exactly what it sets out to do.
