Listen, Tsubasa stated it herself, Nico is the little demon of μ's (not the fallen angel btw)
If you don't like her because she's noisy or tries a little too hard to act cute, that's totally fine. But remember, she has a dream, and there's nothing wrong with that. What's wrong with wanting to become a cute idol? Absolutely nothing. That's exactly why this episode is so important.
We already got Nico's backstory in the first season, but this episode goes even deeper. It doesn't just remind us of the PTSD she carries from her previous idol group falling apart, she also got herself something to do in her own world. Even back in Episode 1, you could see how desperately she wanted to become a successful idol. She didn't want to experience failure again, and she wanted μ's to give everything they had.
This is exactly why Nico is such an important member of the group.
That aside, I also love how many little easter eggs they slipped into this episode. "Hanamaru Store?" Yeah, sure... I wonder who that could be lmao. And if you remember, there are still a few members whose backstories haven't been fully explored yet, so we've still got plenty to look forward to in the next few episodes.
