Err, nothing special tbh. The only message I could take away is that "taking a different path doesn't always mean it's a bad thing." That's probably the message they were trying to convey here, while also passing the torch to the new generation. Meh, I'd say this is just a bridge episode leading into the finale, and it works, I guess. Also Kanata is for sure tired after this episode lmao.
