Love Lab
Oshimeter
Synopsis
At Fujisaki Academy, Natsuo Maki reigns as the perfect student council president — elegant, poised, admired by every girl in school. She's also the kind of person who practices kissing on a pillow when nobody's watching. Unfortunately for her, tomboyish classmate Riko Kurahashi walks in at exactly the wrong moment. Instead of blackmail or social destruction, Riko ends up sympathizing with Maki's hopeless romantic streak, and the two form what they call the 'Love Lab' — basically a series of increasingly ridiculous experiments where two girls with zero dating experience try to figure out how romance works. The results are about as effective as you'd expect. Doga Kobo's animation does a lot of heavy lifting here. The expressions are wild, the physical comedy lands consistently, and the contrast between Maki's composed public persona and her private romantic delusions never stops being funny. It's a 13-episode TV series that knows exactly what it wants to be — a character-driven comedy about friendship and cluelessness wrapped in a school setting. The dynamic between Riko and Maki carries the whole thing, with their personalities bouncing off each other in ways that feel natural rather than forced. If you liked the ensemble energy of Yuru Yuri or the club-room hangout vibe of K-On, this hits a similar spot, just with more slapstick and romantic scheming. It's warm, it's goofy, and the cast grows on you fast.
