Synopsis

Waking up trapped in someone else's body, Zhou Mingrui finds himself in a world that looks like Victorian England if Victorian England had occult secret societies and eldritch horrors lurking behind every church door. As Klein Moretti, he's stuck navigating a society powered by steam engines and supernatural potions, where different Churches wage quiet wars over mysterious powers most people don't even know exist. The first couple episodes do a great job establishing this uneasy tension — Klein isn't some overpowered protagonist. He's a guy trying not to get killed while figuring out a mystical system involving tarot cards, divination, and a power hierarchy that feels genuinely thought-out rather than thrown together. The worldbuilding here is the real draw. It's dense but rewarding, the kind of setting where every faction has its own agenda and nobody's telling the full truth. If you liked the layered intrigue and dark atmosphere of Mo Dao Zu Shi but want something with more of a steampunk edge, this hits that spot. There's also an isekai element that fans of shows like Isekai Quartet might recognize, though the tone is way darker and more grounded. B.CMAY PICTURES adapted this from a massively popular web novel, and across 13 episodes they nail the mood — mysterious, tense, with action that feels earned rather than constant. It's not trying to impress you with spectacle. It's building something, and the slow burn is worth your patience.

That was such a MINDBLOWN animation. The details, the effects, the different angles, and colors are so EPIC. I think I'm going crazy with stuff that’s happening though. My mind is working nonstop to understand what’s going on.
LoTM brings a refreshing breeze for fans of the isekai genre, thanks to its highly complex and mystery-filled world-building. The pacing does feel a bit too fast at times, but the story remains enjoyable and keeps us curious about what mysteries will unfold in the next episode.
This series started slow and confusing. However the show grew better and better as episode goes by. Looking forward for the upcoming mysteries.
