The next day, while traveling with his apprentice Gray, he discovers a cat, a frequent visitor to his room, has been run over. Realizing this was an attempt on his own life, Lord El-Melloi II, along with Gray, Flat, and Svin, begins an investigation to uncover the culprit behind the assassination attempt.
