Episode Context

As episode 17 of the long-running 1995 continuation, this sits firmly in the show's episodic comfort zone, no overarching plot threads to track, just standalone vignettes deepening the world of Maruko's classroom and neighborhood. Earlier episodes have established the core cast dynamics, so this entry can confidently spotlight a secondary character like Yamane while still delivering Maruko's signature perspective. The two-story format remains consistent with the series' standard structure at this point in the run.
