Saya's Midnight Mission
The episode opens with the unsettling sounds of a gun cocking and muffled whispers in the dark. A flash, a tumbling bullet casing, and then the figure of Tokido Saya appears, surrounded by glowing purple energy. She kneels in a dimly lit hallway, pistol aimed, her intense blue eyes fixed on unseen targets. She fires, promising, "We can meet again. Surely."
Riki's Routine Disrupted
Riki Naoe is found sleeping at his desk, rudely awakened by his boisterous friend, Masato Inohara, dropping from a bunk bed. Masato's exaggerated antics, complete with crying anime tears, provide a moment of comedic relief. Riki remembers a forgotten notebook in the classroom and decides to retrieve it, much to Masato's mock despair.
The Hallway Ambush
Walking through the dark, empty school at night, Riki notes the unsettling atmosphere. A faint noise makes him jump, but he dismisses it as the wind. Suddenly, Saya grabs him from behind, slamming him against a window. She demands to know why he is there and orders him to run down the corridor without looking back.
Tokido Saya, Student
After escaping through the emergency exit, a bewildered Riki finds a student ID on the ground. It belongs to Tokido Saya, the same girl who just threatened him. The next day, Riki tries to return the ID to Saya in class. She reacts with embarrassment, trying to hide the ID and her encounter with Riki from her friends, before thanking him with a small, knowing smile.
The Rooftop Confrontation
A mysterious email from Saya summons Riki to the rooftop. There, she confronts him, declaring he is going to die for being in the school at night. She claims he will be kidnapped by the "Dark Executive Committee" for meeting her. Saya, frustrated by Riki's obliviousness, then throws him over the rooftop railing, declaring, "Game Start!"
Masato's "Rock Climbing" Rescue
As Riki plummets from the rooftop, Masato miraculously appears to catch him, mistaking Riki's terrifying fall for a daring rock-climbing stunt. Masato's cheerful obliviousness contrasts sharply with Saya's continued grim reloading of her pistol. Saya then throws something down, which Masato again catches effortlessly.
Kyousuke's Cryptic Warning
Back in his dorm, Riki reflects on his bandaged hand and the bizarre events, questioning the "Dark Executive Committee." He confronts Kyousuke Natsume, suggesting the "game" is his prank. Kyousuke's demeanor turns serious; he warns Riki never to speak that name again, claiming the Committee knows his weaknesses, particularly Rin Natsume's safety. Kyousuke sternly advises Riki to avoid involvement.
Riki's Trials Begin
Determined to protect his friends, Riki decides to face Saya's game alone. As night falls, an ominous shadow marks him as "TK 010." He is chased, finds a noose, and is seemingly hanged, only to be dramatically rescued by Miyazawa Kengo, who treats it as another strange prank. Later, Riki faces electric wires, realizing the danger, and ingeniously destroys the source of the electrical attack with his baseball bat.
An Offer of Partnership
Saya suddenly appears in Riki's dorm room, declaring she won't kill him anymore, finding him "interesting." She acknowledges his reliance on friends as a strength and calls him lucky. Saya then proposes they team up, stating he possesses something she needs. When Riki hesitates, recalling her attempts on his life, she warns that refusal means capture by the "Dark Executive Committee," giving him a menacing smile.
The Labyrinth Unfolds
Riki attempts to escape, again pursued by shadows, but finds himself cornered. In a desperate move, he grabs Saya's gun and fires, forcing the shadows to retreat. Saya pulls him along, re-proposing their partnership, to which Riki reluctantly agrees. They discover a secret entrance in the classroom floor, which responds to weight like a puzzle. After Riki builds a pyramid of desks, another sound reveals an entrance behind the blackboard, through which Saya pulls him into a dark abyss.
