Everything Lunalie El Blanca had was earned through sacrifice, all to claim her place as a royal knight, and her most important duty is protecting her childhood friend, Princess Jill. Simple enough, until bandits ambush their pilgrimage, kidnap the princess, and leave Lunalie as the only survivor. She drags herself back to the kingdom expecting help. Instead, she gets chains, torture, and a death sentence — accused of setting the whole thing up herself. From there, she breaks out and goes looking for Jill on her own, convinced the princess ended up in the hands of a slavery ring. That setup carries a lot of weight, and the show leans into the darker corners of it without flinching. It's a grim-fantasy revenge story built around two women and the loyalty between them, wrapped in a world that doesn't give either of them much grace. If you've watched Queen's Blade or something like Claymore and appreciated how those stories mix action with genuinely harsh consequences for their characters, Lilitales sits in similar territory. The tone is closer to Berserk than a standard fantasy adventure — there's real ugliness here, and the story doesn't pretend otherwise. It's a 4-episode ONA from 2018, based on a game, so the runtime is compact and the pacing moves quickly. Worth checking out if dark fantasy with strong female leads and a story that actually has stakes is your thing.
