Legend of the Black Eye
Oshimeter
Synopsis
What happens when a young king has six weeks and two foreign princesses vying for his hand — that's the core setup of Kokudo Ou, a 5-episode OVA from 2000 that wraps a genuine political premise around its adult content. Isheildo rules the small mountain kingdom of Bosarre, and the neighboring empires of Rohan and Gerod aren't subtle about their intentions. Each sends a princess — Bellshil from the east, Ariel from the west — to essentially audition for the role of queen. Whoever wins Isheildo wins the alliance, and both women know it. The first couple of episodes spend real time establishing that tension: two determined women, one uncertain king, and a court dynamic where everyone has something at stake. The character designs are detailed and the animation holds up reasonably well for the era, which puts it a notch above a lot of hentai OVAs from the same period. There's an actual story here — not a deep one, but enough to give the explicit content some context and weight. If you've watched something like Bible Black and appreciated that it had a coherent plot holding everything together, this scratches a similar itch. Fans of Discipline: Record of a Crusade who liked the harem-with-stakes angle will find familiar ground here too. It's not trying to be high fantasy — don't go in expecting worldbuilding or political drama on any serious level. But as adult OVAs go, it's one that at least has a reason for its characters to exist beyond setup.
