The way the soundtrack swelled when she first opened her eyes was perfect, and it really sold the magic of seeing her wake up for the first time
Marie looking at that lifeless homunculus for so long made the ending where it actually opens its eyes feel so earned and creepy
I felt so uneasy when the homunculus moved its eyes at the very end and it really saved a slow episode
I definitely got chills when the homunculus opened its eyes right in front of Marie and Leon out of nowhere because that lab felt so empty and quiet before it happened
Automaton breaking its own arm to protect that small child was intense and it made the stakes feel higher
It really got to me how this premiere handled the uncanny valley stuff, and the scene where the robot learns to smile was more disturbing than sweet. Seeing the high quality animation during the factory escape was a treat too, and the heavy silence after the main explosion made the tension feel real. It made that final smoke cloud look so lonely.
marie looked so stressed out working on that body and then seeing it actually wake up was such a creepy way to end the first episode
The atmosphere in the lab was pretty tense while Marie was working and you can tell she is putting everything into this project. Leon seems like he might be a problem later with how he talks about the funding, but that ending shot of the homunculus finally opening its eyes was really unsettling and makes me wonder if they messed up
i was really impressed by the way the automaton girl just woke up and looked so confused and the gears in her eyes were such a neat detail and the art style was so gorgeous for a first episode
the way she tilted her head when he gave her a name was the cutest thing in the whole episode and it sets up a good arc for her learning about human emotions
Leon bringing some energy into that depressing lab was exactly what Marie needed and the contrast between them makes the science drama much better
It is a bit weird how fast they jumped into the romance angle but the character designs are carrying the show so far
my stomach dropped when she tried to speak for the first time and only static came out, it made the whole automaton concept feel way more grounded than usual
That ending scene where she asked about her purpose had a lot of soul and it made the whole robot setup feel way more grounded
leon acting like he owns everything in that room makes you want to see him get taken down a notch by the experiment later on
marie is clearly obsessed with this project and seeing the homunculus wake up unexpectedly makes her look even more unhinged
Seeing the way her eyes changed color when she felt a spark of emotion was a nice touch for a first episode
City lights reflecting in the glass eyes of the android during the rooftop scene made that look so desolate
the way they did the robot girl design is something I really enjoyed and her movement is super smooth for an ova
That ending left me cold especially when the lead realized his partner was a series of gears and wires instead of a person
