Episode Context

As the season's opening episode, it has no preceding installment to build on, starting instead with Nia Liston's deathbed premise, her recovery, and the arrival of the battle-hungry soul in her body. From there, the story moves out of private convalescence and into her involvement with the Liston family's Magic Vision business, laying the groundwork for everything that follows. The premiere leaves Nia positioned for a public-facing role, with her supernatural martial ability as the engine for the next stage of the season.
