This is an absolute slice of life episode. The pacing felt good in this episode. The snowy animation looked beautiful, and was paired with a reflective tone, which offered the foundation for some deep character development.

I really loved the okonomiyaki scene, because it felt like the first time the brothers actually connected without any of that usual exam season tension hanging over them.

Episode Context

Three episodes from the finale, Episode 9 arrives after the family weathered a stretch of compounding challenges, shifting the focus from individual hardship toward collective response and mutual support. It functions as a quiet stabilizing chapter, one that consolidates the relationships developed so far while laying emotional groundwork for the sharper turns the final arc is likely to bring. Where Episode 8 tested the household, Episode 9 asks how they hold together under that test.
