Kotowari: Kimi no Kokoro no Koboreta Kakera
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Unlike most people, Mishiro Tamanashi can perceive fragments of souls, called kotowari, born from the hidden suffering of those around him. When he transfers to a new school in a historic town, he encounters one of these drifting fragments and can't just ignore it. Someone out there is carrying a pain so deep it's broken off a piece of their soul, and Mishiro feels compelled to find them. This 2-episode OVA from Nihikime no Dozeu is adapted from a visual novel, and it shows — the storytelling leans into character interiority, emotional weight, and a supernatural framework that's really just a metaphor for how people bury their struggles. Each girl Mishiro meets has her own wound, her own fragment floating somewhere just out of sight. The supernatural element isn't flashy; it's quiet and a little melancholy, giving the drama a softer, more introspective texture than most titles in the genre. If you've watched something like Bible Black and appreciated when a hentai title actually tries to build atmosphere and mood before anything else, Kotowari scratches a similar itch. Fans of Discipline: The Record of a Crusade who liked the interpersonal drama woven through the story will also find something familiar here. It's a short watch, but it commits to its premise — a guy who can literally see emotional wounds, trying to heal them one person at a time.
