Korogashi Ryouta

These days Takao Ryouta drives a bus, though not long ago he was riding with a rough crowd. That does not mean he has calmed down much. He still gets pulled into street races, still throws hands with people from his biker past, and still has a habit of being a complete creep alongside his equally questionable best friend. The two of them together are kind of a disaster, and a lot of the early humor comes from watching them embarrass themselves in spectacular fashion. Then Ryouta's love interest gets snatched by thugs, and suddenly this guy who spends most of his time being a nuisance has to figure out how to actually be someone worth rooting for. It is a short ride at three OVA episodes from 1990, so it never overstays its welcome. The tone lands somewhere between low-stakes action brawls and genuinely goofy comedy, with that rough urban edge that a lot of seinen manga from that era carried. If you liked the blue-collar roughneck energy of something like Otokogi, or the comedic action chaos of Hero Company, this scratches a similar itch. It is not trying to be deep. It is a story about a pervy bus driver who street races and reluctantly becomes a decent person when it counts, and for three episodes, that is honestly enough.
