Synopsis
Making a relationship actually work — that's the whole premise of Kibun Kibun, and it's more watchable than it sounds. This two-episode OVA from 2003 follows two people navigating the awkward, funny, and occasionally frustrating parts of being together. Misunderstandings pile up, external pressures creep in, and neither of them always handles things gracefully. The tone shifts between light comedy and quieter, more grounded moments, which gives it a texture that feels closer to actual adult relationships than most anime bother with. It's not trying to be epic — it's just two people figuring things out, which is either exactly what you want or not your thing at all. The humor lands because it comes from recognizable situations rather than absurdist setups. If you've watched Futari Ecchi and appreciated how it frames adult intimacy inside a realistic relationship dynamic, Kibun Kibun scratches a similar itch in a more compact format. It shares some DNA with Aneki... My Sweet Elder Sister The Animation in terms of leaning into character chemistry over shock value. Being an OVA means it doesn't overstay its welcome — two episodes, done. It's adapted from a manga, and the source material's character-driven approach carries over pretty well. Worth a look if you want something low-stakes, a little funny, and honestly grounded for what it is.
