The pre-tournament politics takes on the stage in this episode. The pacing is much slower than the previous episodes. The tone went dark, and was paired with some dialogue-heavy animation, that offered some solid character development.

It was a relaxing moment for a while. There was a Japanese chess match, but it didn’t make the plot interesting yet. After that, a fight broke out that led to another promising strong character. It was so satisfying to watch!
