Kekkaishi no Ichirinka
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Hana Ichise has spent her entire life being the unremarkable twin. In a Japan protected by five ancient crystal pillars, her family wields supernatural barrier abilities to keep the world safe — but that's always been her sister Hazuki's domain. Hana's been content to coast through high school as the normal one, even after she quietly awakens powers of her own. She just... doesn't tell anyone. Why complicate things when graduation is right there? That plan falls apart when Saku Ichinomiya, the head of her family's main branch, figures out what she's been hiding and drops a bombshell: a contractual marriage proposal that would drag her straight into the world she's been avoiding. The setup gives you this interesting push-and-pull between a girl who genuinely just wants to be left alone and the weight of a supernatural legacy she never asked for. TROYCA is handling the animation, adapting from a novel, and the early tone leans into that slow-burn romantic tension wrapped around barrier magic and family politics. If you liked the spiritual world-building of Natsume's Book of Friends or the family duty dynamics in something like Inuyasha, this hits a similar nerve but with more focus on the romance side. Fans of Kekkaishi will also recognize the barrier magic DNA here. It's shaping up to be a solid pick if you're into supernatural romance that doesn't rush past the character work to get to the action.
