Kanin Tokkyuu Michishio
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Among young people in Japan, an urban legend circulates about a train called Michishio — board it, and you vanish. Most write it off as a creepy story, but the train is real, and it's far worse than the rumors suggest. Michishio looks completely ordinary from the outside, but every few months it reveals its true purpose, and the women who find themselves on board don't come back the same. Seiji is the conductor, and on this train, he answers to nobody. This 2-episode OVA from Y.O.U.C leans hard into the urban legend framing, using that eerie setup to build a genuinely unsettling atmosphere around themes of control and psychological manipulation. The blend of mundane, everyday Japan with something deeply sinister underneath it gives the whole thing a surreal, off-putting edge that sticks with you. If you've seen Kuroinu or Taimanin Asagi and you're into dark, morally uncomfortable narratives with a strong power-dynamic focus, Michishio scratches a similar itch but wraps it in a horror-adjacent premise that feels more grounded. It's adapted from a visual novel, so there's actual narrative structure here rather than just loosely connected scenes. Don't go in expecting something light — this is deliberately dark material, and it commits to that tone throughout both episodes.
