I really laughed a lot, to be honest. I like it when Shinichi uses Japanglish; I don't care for his character that much, but it really makes me laugh when they mix words like that. I'd love to know the mystery behind why Ai grows up so extremely fast! I hope they explain that in the next episode. So far I'm really enjoying the story, even though the anime is from before 2010 and I'm watching it in 2026. Plus, the episode went by super fast too, haha.

The mystery surrounding Ai-chan’s appearance continues, but this time, it’s much clearer that the girl in the hospital has something to do with her. But I’ve gotta say, Misa is so unhinged for doing something like that to Ai-chan. 😂 Anyway, so far, this is one of the most interesting plotlines in the series. I presume the next episode will be the conclusion to this whole matter.

Episode Context

Sitting right at the midpoint of this 13-episode run, 'Growing Girl' directly follows the events of 'Tenko's Baby,' escalating the mysterious circumstances surrounding Ai into something the characters can no longer treat casually. It functions as a narrative bridge, deepening the emotional and supernatural stakes before leading into 'Important Friend,' where the implications of Ai's existence ripple outward into the broader character dynamics. This is where the series begins shifting from episodic charm toward a more connected, consequence-driven back half.
