Adrift on the streets of Tokyo with no money, no plan, and nowhere to go, teenage runaway Takao Sana is hitting a wall. Out of desperation, she downloads an app called 'Dear Friend' that connects strangers looking for companionship, and ends up meeting Hachijou Kei, a salaryman who's essentially just as lonely as she is, even if his circumstances look nothing like hers. What starts as a transactional arrangement gradually becomes something harder to categorize. This is a one-episode OVA from 2019, adapted from a visual novel by studio Shion, and it leans into the awkward, complicated territory that comes with two people from completely different worlds figuring out what they actually want from each other.
