Kaibutsu-kun

The "Kaibutsu-kun" TV specials from the 1980s colored series offer self-contained monster-themed stories. The first three episodes, each approximately 15 minutes long, were aired after episode 25. These episodes were a tribute to Taro Sagami, the voice actor for Franken, who had passed away. Shingo Kanemoto took over the role of Franken after these three specials. The remaining three specials, also about 15 minutes each, were New Year's specials that aired after episode 57. The original TV series typically presented two stories per half-hour episode, but these specials each featured a single story, except for episodes three and five, which used the full time slot for their narratives.
