Episode Context

Six episodes into the Egypt arc, the Joestar group continues their Stand-user gauntlet on the road to DIO, with this episode providing a lighter breather following the tense Anubis confrontation. This is part one of a two-parter spotlighting Joseph and Avdol against Mariah, continuing the pattern of enemy Stand users attacking in sequence as the group pushes deeper into Egypt. The resolution carries directly into episode 7, 'Bastet's Mariah, Part 2.'
