Synopsis
On the surface, everything about Natsumi's life looks picture-perfect — stable marriage, quiet home, everything in order. She worked hard to get here, and she worked even harder to bury the person she used to be. Then her husband brings a friend home for dinner, and that friend is someone she definitely recognizes from her wilder days. The kind of person you don't want showing up at your dinner table when you've spent years convincing yourself you're a different person now. What follows is that specific, uncomfortable tension between who you've chosen to become and who your body still remembers being. It's a short watch at just 2 episodes, and it leans into the drama of that internal conflict — temptation, guilt, fidelity, the way your past doesn't always stay where you left it. If you're into morally complicated character dynamics like Scum's Wish, or stories where desire and self-deception collide the way they do in Higehiro, this hits a similar emotional note, just in a much more explicitly adult package. The animation from Sunny Side Up handles the emotional weight well, and Natsumi is a protagonist with enough depth that her struggle feels genuinely conflicted rather than just gratuitous. It's not going to redefine the genre, but if you want something short, mature, and a little uncomfortable in an honest way, it delivers on what it's going for.
