Injuu Onna Kyoushi

Working as a high school science teacher, Yuko is trying to keep her head down while her abusive ex-boyfriend — also a teacher at the same school — makes her life miserable. After a brutal encounter with him, she finds comfort with Ayano, her closest friend and lover, who happens to be deep into some genuinely unsettling research involving an ancient scroll, a dagger, and a mummified body part. Yuko offers to help analyze the specimen, which is where things shift from personal drama into something darker and stranger. The horror elements here are not decorative — they're woven into the story in a way that gives the whole thing an uneasy atmosphere, more in line with late-night supernatural thriller than straightforward adult content. The 1995 animation has that specific texture that fans of older OVAs tend to either love or find charming in its roughness. If you watched La Blue Girl or Demon Beast Invasion and appreciated how those series mixed occult horror with adult content, this sits in similar territory. Angel of Darkness is another fair comparison if you want a sense of the tone. It is a three-episode OVA, so the pacing is tight and it does not overstay its welcome. Going in with adjusted expectations for the era and format, there is a genuinely engaging mystery underneath the surface.
