It's really touching to see how far Takumi is willing to go to help his friend. I also love seeing him finally motivated to take on the race. But I still don't really like Mako's character after what happened!!

Episode Context

Sitting at episode 17 of 26, this lands squarely in First Stage's mid-to-late stretch where Takumi's opponents stop being local and start exposing his weaknesses. It follows directly from the introduction of the Impact Blue duo and channels that setup into a focused pre-race episode, building the framework for the actual Usui Pass battle in 'Hot Winds and Furious Driving' immediately after.
