In the turbulent final years of the Edo period, a man with no name and no past is brought to the Mibu Roushigumi headquarters in Kyoto. Taken in by the famed vice-commander Souji Okita, he is given the name Jinsuke Tachikawa and a new life among the ambitious samurai. As the group evolves into the legendary Shinsengumi, Jinsuke is swept into the violent currents of history, fighting for a cause he barely understands.
