Inda no Himekishi Janne
Oshimeter
Synopsis
In the kingdom of Leboufal, Janne is both royalty and a trained warrior, skilled in swordsmanship and magic. When ogres start raiding her lands and abduct her younger sister Yuwa, Janne doesn't wait for backup. She rides straight into the dark elves' stronghold alone, which, as you'd expect, does not go well for her. She gets captured, and the story shifts into something much darker from there. This is a 2-episode OVA, so it wastes no time getting into it — the setup is quick, the stakes feel personal, and the tone stays consistently grim throughout. The fantasy world-building is actually solid for the runtime, with a real sense of place and lore around the dark elf stronghold and the kingdom of Leboufal. Don't come in expecting a clean heroic arc — Janne's journey is about endurance and transformation under pressure, and the horror elements are genuine rather than decorative. If you've watched something like Himekishi ga Classmate! and wanted a darker, more fantasy-grounded take, this scratches that itch. Fans of The Kept Man of the Princess Knight who appreciate a knight-in-peril premise with actual world-building behind it will find familiar ground here. It's bleak, it leans hard into the horror side of its fantasy-horror blend, and it doesn't soften the edges — just something to know going in.
