Immortal Doctor In Modern City
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Meet a broke high school kid named Ye Bufan, so desperate to pay for his mom's medical bills that he tries to stage a car accident for insurance money. Classic plan, right? Except the driver he picks doesn't react the way anyone would expect, and the whole thing goes sideways — literally into another dimension. He gets isekai'd into a fantasy world where he inherits ancient medical knowledge and martial arts abilities, which is a pretty solid upgrade from "guy who just got hit by a car." This ONA leans into the absurdity of its setup without taking itself too seriously. The early episodes are about Ye Bufan figuring out what he can actually do with these new skills, stumbling through a world that operates on completely different rules than what he's used to. The mix of medical expertise and combat gives the action sequences a different flavor — he's not just punching harder, he understands the body on a level most fighters don't. The vibe lands somewhere between The Daily Life of the Immortal King's modern-meets-cultivation energy and Sword Dynasty's martial arts world-building, with time travel elements woven in that keep things from getting too predictable. Based on a web novel and animated by Xing Yi Kai Chen, it's got that action-packed pacing where episodes don't drag. If you liked Thunderbolt Fantasy's willingness to be weird with its premise, this one operates in a similar spirit — just with more acupuncture and fewer puppets.
