Ikoku Nikki

"Ikoku Nikki" follows the unusual living arrangement of Makio Koudai, a 35-year-old novelist, and her 15-year-old niece, Asa. Makio impulsively takes Asa in after the sudden passing of Asa's parents, including Makio's older sister. The next day, Makio realizes her preference for solitude and struggles with the implications of having a roommate. The anime depicts their daily lives as Makio attempts to adapt to sharing her space, and Asa tries to understand and get used to an adult who doesn't always act like one. The story explores their evolving relationship and the challenges of navigating grief, family, and personal growth.
