Episode Context

At episode 5 of 16, the series is wrapping up its early establishment phase and stepping into its first major emotional complication. The groundwork laid in episodes 1-4, introducing Masuo's tentative feelings and the hesitant dynamic between the leads, now gives way to messier, more uncertain territory. 'The Entrance to a Labyrinth' title implies this episode functions as a turning point, setting up the emotional knots that the back half of the season will need to untangle.
