Episode Context

Sitting at the midpoint of the 52-episode run, Episode 23 launches a new competitive phase after Sho and his friends arrived in X-City in Episode 22 and learned about the tournament. This episode transitions from the journey-and-discovery format into a structured tournament arc, introducing the rivals and stakes that will likely drive the narrative through the season's back half. It's a pivotal gateway episode, everything before led here, and everything after will be shaped by what unfolds in these battles.
