Synopsis
"Hollow Mind" depicts the internal journey of a heart that grows in isolation, unaware of its own expansion. This solitary existence leads to a swelling, a potential engulfment of the self, threatening disappearance. The narrative draws a parallel between this internal struggle and the failure of a rice crop, described as "chaff failed to make a good rice crop." The animation was created by Yagi as their Graduate Work in 2015 at the Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Film and New Media, Department of Animation. The work appears to explore themes of loneliness, self-destruction, and the consequences of unchecked growth, using the metaphor of both the human heart and agricultural failure.
