Hikoichi's Wits

In front of a castle, Hikoichi and Osato are selling their watermelons when they encounter Chuemon, a chief counselor burdened by an unreasonable demand from a neighboring country's messenger. Seeking assistance, Chuemon searches for someone wise and intelligent. Hikoichi, recognizing an opportunity, offers his help, but only if Chuemon purchases all their watermelons should Hikoichi succeed. The anime follows Hikoichi as he tackles seemingly impossible problems with his sharp wit and unconventional strategies. This drama, filled with wisdom and courage, unfolds as Hikoichi navigates the diplomatic challenge, hoping to secure both a victory of intellect and a successful sale of his watermelons. The film won Gold in the Tokyo Educational Film Competition.
