EPISODE REVIEWS

The rivalry between Hikaru and Akira is palpable in this episode, expressed through their dialogue. The animation is, as usual, consistent and precise. There's no excessive dialogue, and overall, the episode feels well-portioned. I like the tempo that not too slow.

Episode Context

Coming off the Go tournament arc in episode 6, this episode pivots from group competition to the personal rivalry that defines the series. Hikaru versus Akira. It's still very early in a 75-episode run, and episode 7 functions as crucial scaffolding, establishing the emotional and competitive terms of their relationship. The groundwork laid here feeds directly into the escalating encounters and diverging paths that shape the next stretch of episodes.
