Episode Context

Coming directly off Hikaru's pivotal decision in Episode 21 to pursue professional Go, this episode translates that resolve into immediate, tangible challenge, his first real encounter with the insei system. At roughly the one-third mark of the 75-episode series, it signals a major shift from Hikaru's beginner arc into a more competitive phase, introducing key recurring characters like Waya and Isumi who will shape his journey forward. The groundwork laid here feeds directly into the escalating stakes of the insei ranking battles ahead.
