Synopsis
Without so much as a warning, the dead start walking at school. That's about all the warning Takashi Komuro gets before his entire world collapses. Within hours, he's killed his bitten best friend, grabbed Rei Miyamoto, his childhood friend and now his responsibility, and fought his way out of a school overrun with zombies. From there, it only gets worse. Society is already gone. Takashi and Rei link up with a handful of other survivors: Saeko, a kendo club president who's a little too comfortable with violence; Saya, the sharp-tongued self-proclaimed genius; Kouta, a gun otaku who finally gets to put his knowledge to use; and Shizuka, the school nurse who somehow keeps everyone patched together. The group has to navigate not just hordes of undead but the rapid breakdown of civilization itself, panicking crowds, power-hungry adults, and the question of whether humanity is even worth saving. This is a Madhouse production, so the action animation is genuinely impressive, fluid and brutal in equal measure. Fair warning though: this leans hard into ecchi territory alongside the horror, so if fan service mixed with gore isn't your thing, you'll want to skip it. But if you liked the survival tension of Attack on Titan or the dark chaos of Deadman Wonderland, this 12-episode TV series hits a similar nerve. Think of it as a zombie apocalypse anime that doesn't pretend to be classy about it, and is better for the honesty. If Highschool DxD and a George Romero film had a baby, this would be it.

For those who love fan services too much, this episode is like heaven to them 💀. It feels like this episode is especially made to provide fan service. I'm telling you go watch it! We are men of culture 🗿
Banger opening and ending songs. This art style is a personal favorite of mine. The eyes are expressive and dynamic, making it easy to understand how the characters are feeling making them memorable. Since this is from Studio Madhouse, you already know animation is good.
Episode 1 kicks off the zombie apocalypse perfectly! The sudden outbreak at school, Takashi’s tough decisions, and the intense escape scenes are thrilling. Great mix of horror, action, and fan service. Solid start!
A wild, unapologetic opener. HOTD wastes no time — zombies overrun the school within minutes and the chaos is immediate. Takashi and Rei's dynamic is set up fast. It's gory, dramatic, and addictive. Don't forget the fan service.
El caos absoluto. Ante la perdida total de la energía la fortaleza se convierte en un infierno, el grupo se ve otra envuelto en la necesidad de atacar para sobrevivir, la paz y tranquilidad han llegado a su fin. Aunque, no hay un final como tal.
Vemos el regreso del profesor Shido y su culto. La tensión entre el profesor y Rei aumenta, al igual que se muestra la razón por la cual Rei detesta al profesor, lo que le hizo esté a ella. La escena final es impactante, se ha tomado una decisión definitiva.
Pasamos de ver a nuestro grupo sobrevivir en las calles, a conseguir un lugar que parece ser seguro y darles la tranquilidad que tanto buscan. Pero muestra también como las reglas autoritarias pueden ser sofocantes dando paso a un crecimiento en los sobrevivientes.
Este episodio es magnifico. Ver como Takashi y Saeko sobreviven juntos luego de haberse separado del grupo es increíble, ya que no solo se concentra en la acción también muestra la psique oscura de Saeko y los sentimientos que hay entre ellos dos.
Es un capítulo realmente emotivo en todo el sentido. Tiene un gran balance entre escenas cómicas, fan service, acción y emocionales. La escena del grupo atrapado en su intento de huir buscando un lugar más seguro es atrapante, muestra la desesperación ante la inevitabl separación
Es un episodio magnifico. El desarrollo de los personajes es increíble junto a la escena del rescate que muestra como Hirano y Takashi trabajan como un excelente dúo. Al igual que muestra como el caos lleva a la locura y la completa paranoia para dar un momento oscuro y emotivo.
Prepárate, pasamos de la acción a un momento puro de fan service. No apto para verlo con padres. Vemos al grupo tener un respiro luego de poder llegar al apartamento. Aunque no todo es bueno, el caos solo aumenta y la policía cada vez toma más poder destructivo sin control.
Es increíble como muestra la ciudad cayendo en el caos junto a una completa ley marcial mientras las personas intentan salvarse. Así mismo, vemos como el grupo original se reúne en una gran escena de acción en el puente y como poco a poco el profesor Shido crea su culto.
Ojo, el episodio inicia como una recapitulación de todo. Pero, a la mitad del episodio volvemos a la acción. Viendo como Takeshi y Rei recorren la ciudad devastada por los zombies, junto a la escena en la estación de gasolina es increíble. Da un gran desarrollo a los personajes.
The shift from pure action to psychological tension. The arrival of the manipulative teacher, Mr. Shido, completely poisons the dynamic on the escape bus. Seeing students blindly follow his cult-like logic is terrifying. A brilliant look at how humans are the real threat
Episode 2 keeps the adrenaline pumping while expertly expanding the cast. Seeing how different students—from the stoic Saeko to the surprisingly tactical Kohta—react to the apocalypse keeps the tension high. The improvised hallway combat is a blast. Don't skip this one
The premiere drops us right into the chaos. Takashi spots the outbreak at the gate and immediately rushes to save his childhood friend Rei and her boyfriend Hisashi. The tension of their awkward love triangle clashing with a visceral zombie apocalypse makes for a gripping watch
One of the best zombie series of all time, it feels like the beginning after an end! I would love it if they can create a 2nd season but it's not possible as the Author passed away back in 2017 Daisuke Sato RIP 🕊️ Overall a great anime highly recommend to everyone. 🔞
The satisfaction it has given me when the Takagi estate deal with the perverted Shido and his students was beautiful 🙂↕️. As the second to last episode of this series, it has the final buildup for the finale I'm looking forward to the showdown. My interest is at its peak!
Takagi's father really is intimidating and their house is like a fortress. Hirano's bravery won my heart! Seeing how things are right now, a greater and much more ruthless war is about to happen between the humans and zombies. The pacing is perfect and blends with the storyline
I never expected Busujima's past was something like that, I find myself rooting for Takashi and Busujima more than Takashi and Rei together. This episode also delivers some iconic scenes recorded in the history of ecchi anime! Let's see what their journey has for them coming
