Episode 4 was really interesting. Chōbei and Toma look like a strong duo. We get to know that they’re actually brothers. Yuzuriha adds the fun element to the episode and she is cunning too, but Gabimaru has already noticed that about her.

Misty foggy seas around the island? Creepy af. Animation on the thick fog and hidden horrors gorgeous. Atmosphere eerie and unknown. Felt the dread of "Paradise" being anything but paradise instantly.

hmmm great battles but again it is short lived, we get a lot of character introduction so i guess this is a so-so episode for a battle junkie watchers. but for me overall great

This episode focuses on the first real survival challenge on the island. I loved seeing how Gabimaru carefully observes his surroundings and plans his moves — it makes him feel smart and capable. Sagiri’s calm and precise actions really stand out, showing her skill and confidence

I've watched many anime, and this episode still managed to surprise me with creature design. Monsters are trully unsettling visually. We get to know more of the story and reasoning of the new characters who will play a role later on. Great episode to get more info on the island.

This is probably the best dark fantasy out there currently and this is totally a perfect 10/10 anime... the best part about it is how it respects the phrase 'dark fantasy' meaning i like how it is satisfyingly 50% brutal bloody action and 50% deeply unsettling mystery it has.

The overall plot has been cemented in this episode. Interesting how they introduced the other core characters and set up the different factions and all.

Episode 4 emphasizes the island's harshness even further. By now, it should be clear that this place is not merely dangerous, but purposefully hostile. The episode's focus on teamwork and survival instincts seemed weak as well. Trust is fragile, and hesitation can be fatal.

blends brutal action with layered character arcs. Gabimaru and Sagiri’s fight against Shinsenkyo’s monsters showcases sharp animation and direction, while supporting characters gain depth. Vicious yet beautiful, it’s a standout in storytelling and style.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting just past the first quarter of this 13-episode season, Episode 4 transitions from setup to escalation. Episodes 1-3 established the premise, the island's threat level, and the fragile Gabimaru-Sagiri dynamic; this episode expands the cast and deepens the survival stakes. It serves as the launchpad for the mid-season power struggles and shifting alliances that will define the episodes ahead.
