Flashbacks paint a picture of their shared life; Tenza, beaming with pride, declares Shion his benefactor and master, his words a testament to profound admiration. Shion, eyes often closed in quiet contemplation, responds with a gentle understanding. He rests his sheathed katana on Tenza’s shoulder in a gesture both playful and deeply affirming. It is a peaceful, almost idyllic memory, a stark contrast to the brutal reality of their present circumstance.

The idyll shatters as Tenza’s face contorts in horror, then agony. The flashback plunges into the moment of his death, Mu Dan’s menacing whisper and glowing touch inflicting a horrifying, transformative injury. Black marks spread across Tenza's body, and he vomits blood, a grotesque corruption. Shion, already gravely wounded, can only watch, tears mingling with blood on his own face, utterly helpless as his student perishes.

Haunted by Tenza’s spectral image, Shion convulses in the present, his own body failing. He is streaked with tears and blood, his jaw clenched in silent suffering. Every strained breath, every cough of blood, is a reminder of the past. He is not just wounded; he is consumed by grief, his inner struggle as fierce as any external battle. The images of Tenza's agony replay, fueling Shion's desperate will to fight.

Back in the present, Shion and Nurugai stand in a water-filled chamber, facing a grotesque, regenerating Tensen. This creature, with its old, horned face and glowing red eyes, mocks them even as it regenerates. Shion, his neck bandaged but his resolve unbroken, grits his teeth. He declares he will never forget what was taken from him, his anger a cold, sharp weapon.

The Tensen’s grotesque power reveals itself; its body bursts, revealing a smaller, skeletal form that glows with purple energy. It animates dismembered body parts, transforming them into ghastly puppets. The creature explains its abhorrent ability, boasting that with no life, it can manipulate bodies with just a trace of Tao. Its red eyes gleam with sadistic glee as it commands the carnage, a truly horrifying spectacle.

Falling body parts and reanimated corpses descend upon Shion and Nurugai, who bravely stand back-to-back, swords drawn. The Tensen observes their struggle with a sinister grin. It explains Shion’s strategy of exhausting its Tao also shortens his own life. Despite his pain, Shion unleashes Murashigure, a powerful sword technique, but collapses immediately, gasping, the cost of his power clear.

With a surge of renewed anger, Shion lunges, impaling the Tensen through its core. The creature screams, its skeletal body cracking and bleeding. But this victory is fleeting; the Tensen’s vines wrap around Shion, and it begins to regenerate again, its form becoming even more monstrous. Shion’s fierce resolve, fueled by the memory of Tenza, hardens into a desperate vow: "I will kill you with my own hands! Even if it costs me my life!"

The Tensen electrocutes Shion, vines covering his body, regenerating itself through him. Nurugai watches in terror, helpless. But Shion pushes through the pain, his eyes glowing white with fierce determination. With a final, guttural yell, he plunges his glowing katana into the Tensen’s heart, causing a massive explosion of light. The Tensen screams, defeated, as Shion whispers, eyes closed, "I am not wrong."

Nurugai, distraught, cries out to Shion to stop, but he pushes her away with a vine-covered hand, desperate to ensure her survival. He watches her retreat with painful resolve. As he accepts his fate, his face contorted in a mix of sorrow and peace, he whispers Tenza's name. His final thoughts are of protecting Nurugai, finding solace in the idea that his death will ensure her life, a powerful, tragic farewell.

Heartbroken, Nurugai collapses, sobbing Shion's name. She sees his katana, surrounded by glowing vines, a poignant symbol of his sacrifice. Trembling, she picks up the blade, her sorrow giving way to fierce resolve. With tears streaming down her face, she declares, "I won't let Sensei die in vain!" The sword, once Shion's, now becomes hers, a heavy mantle of responsibility and purpose.
