Heisei Harenchi Gakuen
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Yasohachi and Fukurokōji ending up as teachers at the legendary Harenchi Academy is the unlikely fate that tells you everything you need to know about how this school operates. Yasohachi and Fukurokōji return to their old stomping grounds expecting familiar chaos, only to find the place has been converted into an all-girls school under new management. They're the first male teachers on campus, and things get weird fast. This single-episode OVA is a 1996 continuation of Go Nagai's original Harenchi Gakuen manga — the same Go Nagai behind Devilman and Cutey Honey — so there's a genuine lineage here. The humor is deliberately juvenile and absurd, leaning hard into the kind of exaggerated, slapstick ecchi comedy that defined a certain era of anime. Nothing here takes itself seriously for even a moment. If you've watched Golden Boy and appreciated that brand of bumbling-guy-surrounded-by-chaos energy, this hits a similar note, though with a lighter touch and less actual heart. Fans of B Gata H Kei or early To Love-Ru will also recognize the comedic DNA immediately. It's not trying to be profound or surprising — it's a nostalgic callback to Nagai's original irreverent style, updated with mid-90s animation. One episode, no real stakes, just comedic chaos in a school setting. Go in expecting exactly that and you'll be fine.
