Out of all the characters who recalled their first encounter with Sakamoto, Yoshinobu's was the only one that really stuck with me, that was hilarious.

This episode was hilarious and quite touching. The stories about how characters met Sakamoto were absurd and funny, and the second half of the episode struck a more emotional chord while still being funny at times. It was nice to see the story with Kubota's mom resolved.

Episode Context

Episode 9 splits into two distinct halves, both zeroing in on the gravitational pull Sakamoto exerts on everyone in his orbit. The first segment is a highlight reel of origin stories, female classmates each recount the moment they first encountered the impossible cool of Sakamoto, delivering rapid-fire comedy through wildly different perspectives. The second half takes a sharp comedic turn as Kubota's mother, Shigemi, crosses the line from admiration into full-blown obsession, disguising herself to get closer to Sakamoto in ways that are equal parts hilarious and cringe-inducing. Expect the show's trademark deadpan absurdity cranked up, but with a surprising undercurrent exploring what happens when admiration pushes past healthy boundaries. The pacing is brisk, the gags land with satirical precision, and the episode finds genuine warmth buried beneath its outrageous scenarios.
