Pretty sad episode. Expect lots of flashbacks and exposition in the middle of the action, which can be a bit annoying if you're looking for nonstop fights.
The tone stays super serious after the pacing change, delving into some surprisingly tragic backstory elements regarding Morlock. The way they tie Saitou's real-world knowledge into a magical solution is super clever. The overarching plot is really delivering now.
Holy crap this episode is quite intense. I don't know who to root for since this anime introduced all these characters and I can quite understand their own motivations and perspective as well. Hopefully the next episode we can have a relaxing episode like the previous ones now cause I want Saitou and his friends comedic scenes back LOL!
