I didn't expect the ending to be like that, I thought Kondou would survive, haha. I really liked the story, but I'm curious who the ruler mentioned is.

This episode was absolute chaos, but that’s what made it so hilarious. Kondou really went through a wild ride here, and Matsudaira stood out as such an interesting and unpredictable character.

An aftermath of the Rengokukan arc, and wow—this episode was pure chaos. I’m honestly surprised Kondou didn’t have an aneurysm after everything that happened—classic Gintama insanity at its finest.

Episode Context

Episode 28 lands directly after the Rengokukan Arc, functioning as a cooldown bridge that processes the consequences of that storyline while pivoting toward the more episodic, comedy-driven stretch ahead. Kondo's spotlight here deepens the Shinsengumi's presence in the series, building on relationships established in earlier episodes. This transitional placement is typical of Gintama's structure, using character-driven standalones to decompress between larger narrative arcs while still advancing the world.
