Episode Context

Landing at episode 188 of 201, this standalone entry arrives after the conclusion of the Rokkaku Arc in episode 187, functioning as a reflective breather before the series pushes toward its final stretch of episodic stories. It deepens Hasegawa's characterization in a way that enriches the broader ensemble tapestry Gintama has been building across its entire run. For viewers this deep into the series, it's a rewarding payoff on a character who's been a recurring punchline and quietly compelling figure throughout.
