Episode Context

Sitting at episode 166 of 201, this anime-original standalone arrives as a comedic breather between a lighter illness-focused Yorozuya episode and upcoming arcs that shift toward more action-heavy storytelling. It has no bearing on any ongoing plot threads, so skipping it won't cause continuity gaps. That said, the Gintoki-Hijikata dynamic on display here is fan-favorite material and rewards longtime viewers who appreciate how far these characters' rivalry has developed.
