Episode Context

Sitting at the midpoint of Gintama°'s 51-episode run, this episode follows a lighter stretch that explored the Odd Jobs trio's fashion antics and Shinpachi's training, maintaining the comedic breather between the season's weightier narrative arcs. By shifting focus to Kondo and themes of identity, it subtly sets the groundwork for the upcoming 'Afros of Life and Death' episodes, where Katsura's infiltration of the Shinsengumi pushes disguise and identity comedy to its peak.
