The episode 1 is a powerful cyberpunk atmosphere with its futuristic setting and serious tone. The episode blends technology, philosophy, and identity in a meaningful way, making it more than just a sci-fi action anime. A strong and intelligent opening.

A genre defining part of the Cyberpunk Genre, Ghost in the Shell is an amazing visual experience, but the lofty and often cerebral themes of this movie can get in its own way from time to time. Things can go from "deep" to downright confusing if you're not in a thinking mood.
