The episode's strength lies in its absurd escalation. It doesn't unleash all the madness right away it begins with a seemingly manageable situation. then gradually becomes more and more ridiculous.

Tying each mission directly to the search for the Lost Technology would have given the series a much-needed sense of purpose. It would have kept the episodes from feeling like standalone filler that does nothing to move the overarching story forward.

This whole episode is hilarious! They just wanted to get their engines repaired but saw a bunch of monkeys instead. Also, the last part is peak comedy!

Episode Context

Sitting at episode 18 of 24, 'Monkey Salvage Combo' continues the series' pattern of standalone comedic missions with no overarching plot obligations. It follows the sentient tank chaos of 'Canned Angel with Gun Turret' and leads into 'Angel Kiss Gateau de Milfeulle,' which pivots the spotlight to Milfeuille's culinary antics, keeping the late-season energy varied by rotating character focus across episodes.
