Episode Context

Coming directly after the brothers' emotionally charged reunion with their teacher Izumi Curtis in 'Teacher,' this episode functions as a reflective interlude at the series' midpoint, episode 28 of 51. It deepens the philosophical foundation underpinning Edward and Alphonse's journey before the narrative escalates with the introduction of significant new characters and complications in the following episode, 'The Untainted Child.' Think of it as the calm before a storm that will carry through the second half of the series.
